Air Peace, a domestic airline, has addressed reports claiming that one of its flights from Akure, Ondo State, to Abuja experienced a windshield crack that caused panic among passengers. In a statement released to Vanguard, the airline clarified that the flight was uneventful and landed safely without any incidents.
The airline explained that while the aircraft’s windshield sustained a crack on the outer layer of the First Officer’s side, this issue was identified by the cockpit crew and resolved immediately upon landing at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport in Abuja.
The statement emphasized, “Our attention has been drawn to reports about a windshield shattering on Air Peace Flight from Akure to Abuja, which supposedly ‘caused panic’ among passengers. We would like to state clearly that there was no such panic event on the said flight. On the contrary, it was a smooth flight that landed safely without any abnormal events.”
The airline further reassured the public that the safety of the flight and its passengers was never compromised, adding that the pilots conducted their routine procedures upon landing and reported the cracked windshield to engineers, who promptly began the replacement process.
Air Peace condemned the dissemination of false information aimed at damaging its reputation, stating, “It is wrong and unacceptable for people to peddle falsehoods just to tarnish the image of the airline when, in fact, there was never any development that caused panic among the passengers of this flight. Air Peace will never jeopardize the safety of its esteemed passengers and will continue to prioritize the highest standards of safety in its operations.”
