Wike commended for curbing land grabbers’ menace in Lugbe

    Published on

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has been commended for tackling the issues of land grabbing and encroachments by some suspected land speculators and grabbers in Lugbe. A suburb of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Making the commendation recently through a press statement made available to our reporter in Abuja yesterday, a land owner, who spoke on behalf of other landowners at Lugbe One and CRD Layouts, Engr. Segun Olaniyin, said that it takes a man with heart of lion like Wike to save many individuals from the activities of many speculators and land grabbers like a one known notorious land grabber whose name was not mentioned, whom he said was known to have illegally collected other people’s land, and even demolished people’s houses, especially in the CRD Layout with the help of some law enforcement agents whom he parades as his enforcers that help him in his illegal encroachment and land acquisitions in the said layout.

According to Olaniyin, the same land grabber in the area had severally refused to respect the authorities of FCT who had in the past warned him that he had encroached into four layouts, which he used in the expansion of his estate beyond the stipulated approved space.

He disclosed that the only estate the said land grabber owned in the area is the “only estate in the area that had no land measurements, but he has been allegedly but slowly, expanding the estate land area on daily basis.”

He disclosed that the land grabber in question has allegedly defied Wike’s directives, as he has continued the development and illegal expansion of his estate against the minister’s directives that asked him to stop.

“The people in the CRD, Lugbe One and Two layouts and environs are now celebrating these giant strikes of Minister Wike for saving their lives and also stopping these land speculators and grabbers, especially the notorious one amongst them who always takes law in his hands because he claimed to be untouchable,” he said.

Olaniyin, therefore, called on the minister to bring to the book the said land grabbers who are known in the area by prosecuting in the law court, as to serve as an example to other land grabbers in the Lugbe area of the territory.
