    Why we established Model Science schools in Kogi- Gov. Bello

    The Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has explained that GYB model Science schools were established across the the three Senatorial Districts of the state to serve as the hub for the production of technologists,Engineers and medical practitioners.

    The aim is to provide needed professionals that would operate the Confluence University of Science and Technology CUSUTECH,the Okene Reference Hospital and in preparation for the emerging shift to Science and Technology in the country.

    The Governor was speaking while conducting newsmen round some star projects of the New Direction Governnent under his watch.

    Bello who was represented by the state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology,Wemi Jones explained that the in embarking on the project,the New Direction Governnent under Governor Bello took into consideration the emerging trend when Science and Technology were the new ways of life.

    “We don’t want to be caught unaware when the time comes without having enough professionals in the state and we will be forced to turn our search lights towards other parts of the country”

    According to him,the newly established Confluence University of Science and Technology, will be able to draw students from the school while the Okene Reference Hospital and other hospitals in the state would have ready access to professionals produced by the Model Science schools

    Also the state Commissioner for information and communication, Kingsley Fanwo disclosed that Governor Yahaya Bello has made history as the first Governor of the state to have built a fly over in the state since its creation, 32 years ago.

    While explaining the exigency of the construction of the interjection bridge at the popular Ganaja junction in the lokoja metropolis, the Commissioner said that the bridge has brought down traffic gridlock and restore aesthetic and scenic beauty of the city.

    He disclosed that the menace of the traffic jam at the Ganaja junction has hitherto became embarrassment to the road users Which informed the decision of the government swung into action and awarded the contract to ameliorate the suffering of the people.

    He said through efficient and accountable management of resources by present administration, it was able to execute the project with the cost much, more lower than what was offered by the past government.

    He said, the action of the governor has solved the twin problems of traffic jam and slum through prudent application of public resources.

    According to the information commissioner, the former Ganaja junction has brought lots of hazards to both the people of the state and motorists who crisscross the road on daily basis.

    ” With the construction of this interjection, the government has been able to achieve twin benefits. We have solved traffic jam and created aesthetic and scenic beauty to the landscape. What we have here has made Lokoja, the state capital to wear new looks.

    ” In as much as we want to sound modest, you would not believe me. What was quoted in 2015 by the past administration was much more higher than what we delivered.

    ” We have been able to achieve this world class edifice through economic and efficient allocation of resources. And as far as this administration is concerned Governor Yahaya Bello has made history as the first kogi Governor to build a flyover in the state since its inception in 1991.” He noted.
