‘We’ll Maintain Precision Strikes Against Terrorists’ – NAF

    Published on

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying air operations against terrorists and criminal elements across the country.

The assurance was given by the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, during an Eid-el-Fitr luncheon held in honour of troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE in Makurdi, Benue State.

According to a statement shared on the force’s official 𝕏 handle on Monday, the CAS said the NAF would not relent in its efforts to degrade the capabilities of insurgents and other security threats.

Represented at the event by the Chief of Civil-Military Relations, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, Aneke expressed deep appreciation for troops deployed in the theatre of operations.

He said, “I have profound appreciation for the courage, discipline and sacrifices of personnel deployed within the theatre.”

Speaking on ongoing military efforts, the Air Chief stressed that the force remains committed to decisive and intelligence-led operations.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains resolute in prosecuting intelligence-driven air campaigns designed to degrade the operational capabilities of terrorists and criminal networks,” he stated.

Highlighting recent achievements, Aneke said the NAF has sustained a series of coordinated missions in collaboration with other security agencies.

He noted that the force had continued to carry out “precision strikes, close air support and armed reconnaissance missions in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies.”

According to him, these operations have delivered measurable results on the battlefield.

“These efforts have significantly disrupted adversary logistics, command structures and freedom of movement,” he added.

The CAS attributed recent operational gains to the professionalism and resilience of troops on the frontlines.

He said the successes recorded so far were a product of “the professionalism, determination and joint operational synergy demonstrated by personnel.”

In his welcome address, the Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command, Air Vice Marshal M.C. Ekwueme, commended officers and airmen for their dedication to duty.

He praised their “high morale” and urged them to maintain focus in the face of evolving security challenges.

Ekwueme stressed the importance of unity among personnel, calling for “sustained operational focus and unity of purpose in confronting emerging threats.”

Similarly, the Air Component Commander of Operation WHIRL STROKE, Wing Commander O.O. Evulobi, appreciated the support received from the leadership of the Air Force and other stakeholders.

He said the achievements recorded in the operation were made possible through “the continued support of the Chief of the Air Staff and the collective efforts of all stakeholders in advancing operational success.”

The Air Chief also highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of the force.

He pointed to investments in modern air platforms, advanced training programmes and improved welfare packages for personnel.

Aneke urged officers and airmen to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties.

“Personnel must remain vigilant, disciplined and resolute in sustaining efforts towards achieving lasting peace, stability and national prosperity,” he said.
