Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has announced an upward review of the state’s minimum wage from Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000) to One Hundred and Four Thousand Naira (N104,000).
Uzodimma disclosed this during a crucial meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) at Government House, Owerri.
He said medical doctors’ minimum wage has also been raised from Two Hundred and Fifteen Thousand Naira (N250,000) to Five Hundred and Three Thousand Naira (N503,000), while lecturers in tertiary institutions will now earn two hundred and twenty-two thousand naira, up from one hundred and nineteen thousand.
In addition, the governor announced the approval of Sixteen Billion Naira (N16,000,000,000) for the payment of all outstanding gratuities owed to pensioners in the state.
He urged workers to reciprocate the gesture by showing greater diligence, efficiency, and commitment to service delivery.
