UEFA dismisses Barcelona’s appeal, maintains fine for violating financial rules.

On Friday, UEFA, the governing body for European football, confirmed a 500,000 euro ($537,000) fine imposed on Spanish champions Barcelona for violating their financial control rules. UEFA’s club financial control body (CFCB) stated that Barcelona inaccurately reported profits related to “the disposal of intangible assets” during the 2022 financial year. The fine had initially been issued by UEFA in July, and despite Barcelona’s appeal, it was upheld.

Barcelona has faced significant financial challenges in recent years, resorting to selling a substantial portion of future television rights income in 2022 and other assets within the club to sustain player acquisitions and registrations in the short term.
