Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the establishment of a high-powered Consensus Committee on Party Harmonization and Aspirants’ Engagement aimed at strengthening internal democracy and promoting unity within the party ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, who said the initiative was part of the governor’s broader commitment to fostering cohesion, dialogue, and consensus among party stakeholders across the state.
According to the statement, the committee is expected to facilitate mediation and constructive engagement among aspirants, party leaders, and other stakeholders in constituencies where competing interests exist. It will also encourage voluntary withdrawals where necessary in order to ensure party harmony and improve the party’s chances at the polls.
Maiyaki noted that the move reflects Governor Sani’s dedication to inclusive leadership, political stability, and the preservation of unity within the party structure.
“The constitution of this Committee reflects the commitment of Governor Uba Sani to inclusive leadership, internal cohesion, and the preservation of unity within the party,” the statement read.
The committee will be chaired by the Deputy Governor, while the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly will serve as a member.
Other members of the committee include the State Party Chairman, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), the Chief of Staff to the Governor, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, and the Deputy Chief of Staff, Legal Services. The State Party Secretary will serve as Secretary of the Committee.
The state government said the initiative aligns with Governor Sani’s vision of strengthening democratic processes through consultation, dialogue, and consensus-building, while positioning the party for a united and successful outing in next year’s elections.
