Flamingos’ captain, Harmony Chidi, stole the show, scoring a hat-trick in the first leg of their 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup second-round qualifier in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire as the Nigerian team thrashed Guinea 5-0 on Saturday.
Harmony opened the scoring floodgates in the first 39 minutes, netting her first and second goals in the first and 12th minute before Kemi Adegbuyi and Mary Dunstan completed the rout in the 37th and 57th minutes at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium, to have a solid standing ahead of the return leg at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, on May 30.
The Guinuean team played the match in Cote d’Ivoire because they could not provide a stadium in their country to host the tie.
A victory for the Flamingos, coached by Akeem Busari, over both legs would secure their qualification for the next round of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
