Trump says he “could” ensure Kilmar Abrego Garcia’s return to US

    Published on

Donald Trump has stated that he “could” have Kilmar Abrego Garcia back to the United States with just one phone call.

Trump made this claim in an interview with ABC News.

Despite the administration’s legal arguments that the government cannot reclaim him, he made these remarks.

“I would do it if he were the gentleman you claim him to be. However, he isn’t,” Trump said Tuesday to Terry Moran of ABC News.

Trump was asked if he might phone El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele and ask him to bring back Abrego Garcia.

In an attempt to defend his deportation, his administration had asserted that Abrego Garcia was a member of the MS-13 gang.

Abrego Garcia’s attorneys dispute this assertion.

Trump went on to say, “This decision is not being made by me.”

“Some of our attorneys are unwilling to take on this task.”

The US government has already been directed by the Supreme Court to “facilitate” Abrego Garcia’s return.

On March 15, Abrego Garcia was sent to an El Salvadorian prison.
