Troops of the 1 Brigade Counter Terrorism Unit have dislodged suspected terrorists in Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State following a swift response to a distress call.

The development was disclosed in a post shared on X on Thursday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, the incident occurred in the early hours of April 14 at about 1:26 a.m. when reports emerged of suspicious terrorist activities in Wanke community.

Troops, supported by a Quick Reaction Force (QRF) and local vigilantes, were said to have quickly mobilised to the area.

“On sighting the troops, the terrorists fled the scene, abandoning their operation,” the post stated.

The report added that the security operatives have since taken control of the area to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of residents.

Troops are also said to be maintaining a strong presence in the community to reassure locals and deter any possible return of the attackers.
