During a heavy downpour in Agatha, Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, tragedy struck as three members of a family were reportedly killed by lightning on Wednesday evening. The unfortunate incident occurred at around 4 p.m. when the victims, identified as members of the Ayoosu Akpage family, were returning from the farm. The victims included two females and a six-year-old boy.

Tragically, as the victims were making their way home, lightning struck them near their house. The incident occurred after they had been harvesting produce on the family farm during heavy rainfall. Upon the lightning strike, people in the vicinity fled for safety, but unfortunately, the three individuals were affected and died instantly. The family members have already recovered their bodies.

An anonymous source in the area expressed astonishment, stating that such an occurrence had never been recorded in Agasha before. The community is more familiar with the challenge of herders rather than lightning-related incidents. However, attempts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, for further information were unsuccessful.
