‎Cash prizes totaling thousands of dollars were won by athletes at the 2026 BRIT Marathon 2.0 as BRIT Properties Nigeria Limited combined sports, healthcare outreach and community support to mark its 16th anniversary celebration in Lagos.

‎The marathon winners smiled home with $1,000 for first position, $500 for second place and $250 for third place in both the male and female categories. Overall, six athletes won over $3500.

‎At the end of the 22-kilometre race, Clement Badung from Plateau State emerged overall winner in the male category to claim the $1,000 top prize, while Lagos-based runner Popoola Idris finished second to win $500. Musa Sati from Kaduna State came third to pocket $250.

‎In the female category, Alabi Aminat Adenike from Lagos State emerged champion after crossing the finish line as the first female athlete and seventh overall.

‎The event attracted over 1,350 athletes from across the federation. The race started from Ibara Jakande Bus Stop along the Lekki-Epe Expressway, passed through Ogombo Road and the Coastal Road before ending at Monastery Road, Sangotedo.

‎For Badung, the victory was emotional as he dedicated the triumph to his injured sister who could not participate in the competition.

‎“It was not easy for me. One of my friends told me about the marathon and I informed my coach. I won this mainly for my sister because she is here but could not run because of injury. I just had to do my best for her,” he said.

‎First runner-up, Popoola Idris, also expressed gratitude after emerging among the leading runners in the competition.

‎Another athlete, Iliya Emmanuel from Plateau State, who finished among the top runners despite nursing an injury, said his dream is to become a marathon champion and national record holder.

‎Beyond the marathon, the company also carried out an extensive Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to commemorate its anniversary.

‎The CSR activities featured a three-day medical outreach for residents of Gbara Community in Eti-Osa area of Lagos, where beneficiaries received free consultations and treatments.
