Taraba Gov Kefas to formally join APC in January

    Published on

The Taraba State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Ibrahim Tukur, has confirmed that Governor Agbu Kefas will officially join the APC in January 2026.
Kefas had earlier suspended his defection scheduled for November 19, citing sensitivity concerns following the kidnapping of students in Kebbi State.
Speaking at a press briefing in Jalingo, Tukur revealed that although Kefas had already fulfilled the requirements and been admitted at ward level, the formal reception was moved due to the busy December schedule.
“Families are preparing for Christmas and New Year. We don’t want to drag people across the state at such a time,” he said.
Tukur disclosed that 15 members of the Taraba State House of Assembly and the entire state executive council had also crossed over to the ruling party, calling it a “natural political realignment.”
He added that APC leaders had unanimously agreed that January would be more convenient, promising to announce a specific date once finalised.
