The Akurmi Development Association (AKURDA) has condemned the killing of four residents and the abduction of eleven others, following an attack by suspected bandits on Gidan Waya, a community in Yarkasuwa, Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

According to a statement signed on Wednesday by AKURDA’s National President, Yakubu Maigamo, and the National Public Relations Officer, Pius Kyauta Agaji, the incident occurred on the night of Tuesday.

The group listed the four people killed in the attack as: Promise Korau (18), Hycent Timothy (19), Mato Shagori (40), and Markus Ishaya.

Those abducted include: Habibu Yahaya (42), Love Markus (38), Mummy Markus (49), Catherine Shitu (40), Ibrahim Bagobari (46), John Ibrahim (15), Rev. Istifanus Dungu (58), Christiana Dungu (14), Prince Dungu (13), Miss Dauda, and Mrs. Rev. Danbala Inuwa (38).

AKURDA described the attack as “brutal and disheartening,” urging authorities to take swift action to protect residents and bring the perpetrators to justice.

“We call on the Lere Local Government Chairman, security agencies, and the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, to come to our rescue, bring all perpetrators to book, and deploy security personnel around the Gidan Waya community,” the statement read in part.

The association also appealed to residents of the area to remain vigilant while praying for the safe return of the abducted victims and repose of the souls of those killed.
