    Published on

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will begin their campaign at the Unity Cup with a clash against fellow African side, Zimbabwe on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

The fixture will take place at The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic. The Super Eagles head into the tournament as defending champions after beating Jamaica 5-4 on penalties in the last edition following a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

In the second semi-final, Jamaica will meet India a day later at the same venue. The third-place play-off and final are scheduled for Saturday, 30 May, also at The Valley.

Attention will also turn to the Nigerian women’s team as the Super Falcons of Nigeria prepare for a double-header against Cape Verde in international friendlies. Both friendlies will be staged at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun state, on Wednesday, 15 April and Saturday, 18 April.

The matches form part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled to take place in Morocco. Nigeria dominated the previous meetings between the sides during the 2023 qualifiers, claiming a 2-1 away win before sealing qualification with a 5-0 home victory.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria are expected to open camp in Abuja this weekend as preparations intensify ahead of the friendlies and the continental tournament.
