Super Eagles Star Samuel Chukwueze to Bury Mother on Friday

    Published on

The family of Nigerian international footballer Samuel Chukwueze has announced the burial arrangements for his late mother, Prophetess (Dr.) Mrs. Serah Chinyere Chukwueze (née Onyegbule), who passed away at the age of 59.

According to the funeral programme released by the family, the late matriarch will be laid to rest on Friday, May 29, 2026, in Umuahia, Abia State, following a series of rites planned to honour her life and legacy.

Her passing earlier in the year attracted widespread sympathy from across the Nigerian football community, with tributes pouring in from fans, football authorities, political leaders and well-wishers nationwide.

The Nigeria Football Federation had earlier described her as a strong pillar in the life and career of the Super Eagles winger, noting the important role she played in supporting his rise to professional football.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also extended condolences to the Chukwueze family following news of her passing in January, describing it as a painful loss while praying for strength and comfort for the bereaved family.

The funeral ceremony in Umuahia is expected to draw relatives, friends, football personalities, supporters and dignitaries who will gather to pay their final respects.

For many admirers of the Super Eagles star, the loss remains deeply emotional, especially given Chukwueze’s consistent acknowledgment of his mother’s support and influence in shaping both his football journey and personal life.
