Stop selling poetry, show Nigerians your plan, YPP’s Agada tackles rivals

‎The Young Progressives Party, YPP presidential candidate, Arc. Peter Agada, has challenged political candidates to move beyond campaign rhetorics and present Nigerians with measurable, time-bound plans.

    ‎

‎Agada, who spoke during an interactive session with political correspondents in Abuja, insisted that elections should be decided on verifiable data and practical implementation plans, not slogans.

    ‎

‎He said governance failures persist because elected officials spend years in office diagnosing problems and setting up committees instead of executing clearly defined programmes.

    ‎

‎”For decades, political campaigns in Nigeria have been treated like poetry contests,” Agada said, adding that candidates promising jobs and better healthcare must explain how and when.

    ‎

‎He said anyone seeking executive office should provide clear figures, timelines and implementation roadmaps for major policies before asking for votes.

    ‎

‎Agada called for stronger coordination among government agencies in planning and executing public projects to avoid fragmented development.

    ‎

‎He cited healthcare as an example, saying building a hospital without access roads, water and electricity defeats its purpose and wastes public resources.

    ‎

‎The YPP candidate also advocated greater public oversight of government projects, with citizens having access to budgets, timelines and progress reports.

    ‎

‎He said such transparency would reduce abandoned projects, waste and chronic delays in public programmes.

    ‎

‎”Let us stop selling hope without a tape measure. Show Nigerians the map, show them the figures, show them the timeline, and let the facts speak,” Agada said.
