Troops of the Nigerian Army have repelled an attack by suspected Boko Haram fighters on Tella Bala village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.

Security sources said the terrorists, armed with sophisticated weapons, stormed the community around 7:00 p.m. on April 26, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.

According to Zagagola Makama, the sudden assault forced villagers to flee for safety as gunshots echoed across the area.

Troops of the 232 Battalion in Gombi, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force, were said to have quickly mobilised to the scene.

The joint force engaged the attackers in a gun battle, successfully repelling them and forcing a retreat.

As of the time of filing this report, the extent of damage resulting from the attack had not been fully determined.

Sources said clearance operations were still ongoing to assess the situation and secure the community.

Security operatives have since taken control of the area, maintaining a strong presence to prevent further attacks and restore normalcy.
