The essence and importance of resilience for success in life by all humans in a world marked by constant changes, crises and unpredictability has been stressed.

    The Director, Centre for Technical,
Vocational, and Entrepreneurship Training, Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Prof. Mubaraq Sanni, who was the Guest Speaker at the institution’s Annual Lecture Series organised by the Institute of Professional and Continuous Education (ICPE), opined that
“as members of a dynamic community, we are no strangers to uncertainty, whether it be academic challenges, personal struggles, geographical instability, economic downturn, technological disruption, environmental and or global crises”, adding that “we have all faced moments where the future seemed uncertain and the path forward unclear”.

Saying it is precisely in this moment that people’s resilience is put to the test, the Guest Speaker described resilience as the ability to
adapt and bounce back in the face of adversity.

“It is not about avoiding difficult situations or pretending that everything is fine when it’s not.
Rather, it’s about building inner strength and harnessing external resources to weather the storms that life inevitably throws our way.

“It’s important to incorporate these strategies into your life to enhance your resilience and ability to navigate challenges effectively.
By developing resilience, you can not only cope with stress and uncertainty but also grow stronger and more adaptable in the face of future challenges.

“Remember, resilience is a skill that can be learned and strengthened over time, so start incorporating these strategies into your life today to thrive in uncertain times.”

In his remarks, the Ag. Vice Chancellor of KWASU, who also doubles as the Chairman of the epoch making event, Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Alade Jimoh, said: “The occasion marks a significant milestone in our continuous pursuit of excellence in education and professional development.

“Our Institute has always been dedicated to redefining learning, bridging gaps in education, and providing accessible educational opportunities to all. Today’s event is a testament to our commitment to fostering a vibrant intellectual community and promoting lifelong learning.”

He added: “The Annual Lecture Series is designed to bring together thought leaders, industry experts, academics, our vibrant Alumni, and students to discuss pressing issues, share insights, and explore innovative ideas that will shape the future of education and professional development.

“It is common knowledge that resilience is crucial in dealing with the complexities of modern life. Being resilient in the face of socio-economic challenges is essential. Our ability to adapt, recover, and grow stronger helps us thrive in uncertain times.

“Here at our university, we believe education plays a key role in building resilience. We equip our students and staff with the skills and mindset needed to face challenges and emerge stronger. Through innovative programs and support systems, we foster resilience and adaptability.”

In his address, Director ICPE, Dr. Sunday Ojo, said: “Our Institute has always been dedicated to redefining learning, bridging gaps in education, and providing accessible, high-quality educational opportunities to all. Today’s event is a testament to our commitment to fostering a vibrant intellectual community and promoting lifelong learning.

“This lecture could not have come in a better time than now, when uncertainty stares us in the face in all spheres of human endeavours.
And I am confident that it will become a cornerstone of our Institute’s tradition, enriching our academic environment and enhancing our reputation as a leader in professional and continuous education.”
