Several households in Igbonna community in Oyun local government area of Kwara State have been thrown into anguish and tears as heavy rainstorm wreaked havoc on several buildings across the community.

Victims in their numbers are presently counting their losses following the havoc caused by the rainstorm, during which rooftops of several houses were blown off.

Speaking on the incident, the National President of Igbonna Descendants Development Union (IDPU), Barrister A. S. Salami,
described the occurrence as highly devastating.

He said: “The experience is worrisome. Few houses, if any, were left untouched by the devastating rainstorm. Some houses were completely blown off while a good number of our people’s houses were either brought down or badly damaged.”

“The incident is unprecedented in history as the stock of the disaster is so great to the extent that most of our people are in confusion and will hardly find where to sleep.

“As we speak, the economic and normal lifestyle of the entire community has been grounded as the vulnerable victims of the disaster are at a loss as to what to do or where to put their heads for safety.

“In view of this, members of the community are calling on the government and good spirited individuals and organisations to promptly come to the aid of the community.”
