Ahead of the commencement of the two-week mass rabies vaccination exercise across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Agriculture and Rural Development Secretariat (ARDS) has charged veterinary personnel to uphold high professional standards during the campaign.
Addressing veterinary and animal health officials at the FCT Veterinary Clinic in Nyanya, the Director of Veterinary Services, Dr Dandam Karnak, who represented ARDS Mandate Secretary, Comrade Abdullahi Suleiman Ango, commended the field officers for their dedication to this critical public health intervention.
He stressed that discipline and professionalism would be crucial to the success of the exercise and reassured the teams of the administration’s full support as they traverse every nook and cranny of the six Area Councils to ensure no community is left behind.
Karnak placed a strong emphasis on the fact that the vaccination is provided entirely free of charge by the FCTA and must not be sold under any circumstances.
He issued a stern warning that any officer found demanding or accepting payment from pet owners would face the full weight of disciplinary action, as the government bears the full cost of the exercise to protect residents.
