Residents and business owners in Kubwa have reported more than a week of electricity disruption, with some saying the outage has caused significant financial losses and interrupted normal household activities. The report was published by Peoples Gazette on 11 October, citing the News Agency of Nigeria.
Business operators described losses involving spoiled food and frozen goods. A food vendor said stock purchased for the month had gone bad, while a frozen-food seller said his commodities had been damaged and he was facing pressure over a loan used to finance his shop. Other small businesses, including barbers, said they had to rely on generators to continue operating.
Residents also complained that electricity interruptions affected household refrigeration and other basic needs. The report said an AEDC official attributed the disruption to a technical fault on the 330-kilovolt Shiroro–Katampe transmission line belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria, and said the issue was being addressed. The report did not provide a confirmed restoration time.
They said the outage has seriously affected food storage, small-business income, water access and household costs.
