The 8th Assembly in Kogi may soon give a legislative backing to the highly contentious issue of power rotation between the three Senatorial Districts in the state.
The three Senatorial Districts are Kogi East, Kogi West and Kogi Central Senatorial Districts.
Our correspondent gathered that members are already gathering signatures and will soon start the debate on the floor of the house.
The aim of this ,it was gathered was to put to rest the issue of marginalisation of the state.
Recall that since the creation of Kogi state in 1991,the Eastern Senatorial district have been producing the governor, stating from Prince Abubarkar Audu, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris and captain Idris Wada all from the Eastern Senatorial district .
This was interrupted by accident of history with the sudden death of prince Abubarkar Audu who was coasing to victory in 2015 and the incumbent, Alhaji Yayaha Bello from the Central Senatorial District became the governor.
The intrigues and the bad blood that greeted the last Governoship election won by Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo may have informed the decision of the state Assembly to consider giving legal back to the issue of rotation to put to rest the issue of marginalisation.
Earlier in the week ,the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Honourable Aliyu Umar Yusuf had emphasized the need to concretise the need for rotation of the Governorship seat in the State through the instrument of legislation.
A press statement made available to journalists in Lokoja on Thursday, signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed, the Speaker dropped the hint when he received the Kogi West Ododo/Joel Campaign Council led by its Director General, Mr. Funsho Olumoko.
According to the Speaker members of the state House of Assembly have commenced discussion on the matter to sponsor a bill that will give legislative framework to the rotational system so as to give all senatorial districts in the state a sense of belonging.
