    Police intercept vehicle conveying suspected Indian hemp in Kogi

    ‎The Kogi State Police Command has arrested a vehicle carrying a large quantity of substances suspected to be Indian hemp in Kabba, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area of the state.

    ‎This was contained in a statement issued on Sunday by ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, Kogi Command’s Public Relations Officer.

    ‎”The Kogi State command of the Nigeria police recorded another breakthrough in its sustained efforts aimed at combating criminal activities and illicit drug trafficking across the State.

    ‎”On 9th May, 2026, operatives attached to a tactical team operating within the Kabba axis intercepted a Honda Pilot vehicle conveying a large quantity of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp during a routine operation at a strategic location within the area.

    ‎”Preliminary assessment revealed that the vehicle contained about Three Hundred and Forty-Two (342) wraps of the suspected substance.

    ‎”Two suspects were arrested in connection with the incident, while the vehicle and exhibits were immediately secured and transferred to the Area Command Headquarters, Kabba, for further investigation.

    ‎”During the operation, an attempt was made to influence the operatives to compromise the process through an offer of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000), which was resisted in line with established professional standards and operational procedures,” the statement read.

    ‎The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and professionalism, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to sustaining the fight against criminality, and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.

    ‎The Command urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with useful and timely information capable of aiding ongoing operations against criminal elements.
