The Kogi state command’s public relations officer, William Aya was among the fourty-two newly promoted officers decorated with their new ranks on Tuesday.

They were decorated by the Commissioner of Police (CP) Naziru Bello Kankarofi and the Kogi State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd) at the State Command headquarters, Lokoja.

CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, while speaking, called on officers under his command to redouble their commitment to discipline, intelligence gathering, and community collaboration in ensuring a safer Kogi State.

While congratulating the officers, CP Kankarofi urged them to see their promotion as a call to higher responsibility and renewed dedication to duty.

“Promotion comes with greater expectations. I urge you all to maintain the highest level of discipline, integrity, and professionalism. The security of Kogi State depends largely on our collective commitment to proactive policing and effective synergy,” he said.

The Commissioner commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd), for their continuous support and prioritisation of officers’ welfare, which he described as a morale booster for the command.

The Kogi State Security Adviser, Commodore Jerry Omodara (Rtd), who attended the ceremony, lauded the command’s achievements and assured the state government’s continued collaboration with the police to sustain peace and security across the state.

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, CSP William Ovye Aya, the Command’s PPRO, expressed appreciation to the IGP and the PSC for finding them worthy of elevation.

He pledged that the officers would justify the confidence reposed in them by upholding professionalism, integrity, and community partnership.

“We are truly inspired by the leadership of the IGP and the PSC. This promotion motivates us to serve better and remain steadfast in protecting lives and properties across the state,” Aya stated.
