The Kaduna State Police Command has apprehended a suspect accused of kidnapping a 10-year-old girl and concealing her inside a refrigerator. ASP Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the arrest on Tuesday in Kaduna.

According to Mr. Hassan, the incident was reported by the mother of the abducted girl, Uwaila Idris, from Unguwar Gara Village in Kauru Local Government Area of the state. She informed the police that on April 26, at approximately 1:00 PM, a man named Aminu Garba, residing in the same area, allegedly abducted her daughter, Hanifa Garba, in his shop.

Upon interrogation, the suspect initially claimed ignorance of Hanifa’s whereabouts. However, upon further investigation, it was discovered that he had hidden the girl inside a refrigerator, covering her mouth with a hijab (veil) and securing her inside with a padlock.

Community members, suspicious of the suspect’s behavior, insisted on searching the shop, leading to the discovery of Hanifa locked inside the refrigerator. The suspect was promptly arrested, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the motive behind his actions.

Mr. Hassan assured that the suspect would face charges in court upon the completion of the discreet investigations.
