    Police arrest 3 drug addicts, recover arms in Anambra uncompleted building

    Anambra State Police Command has arrested three suspected drug addicts in an uncompleted building at Iyiagu Estate, Awka.

    Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga who disclosed this on Friday said the suspects were apprehended by Police Operatives attached to B Division during a raid in the area.

    He said one locally made revolver pistol and some substances suspected to be hard drugs were recovered from the suspects.

    He said, “In the early hours of 29th April 2025, Police Operatives attached to the B Division of the State Police Command acting on credible information raided an uncompleted building at Iyiagu Estate, Awka.

    “During the operation, three suspects were arrested while one locally made revolver pistol and some substances suspected to be hard drugs were recovered.

    “The suspects: Paulinus Nkuda, Nwankwo Emmanuel, and Nwadede Godspower, all males, stated that the pistol belonged to one Chukwuebuka, whose second name is unknown but popularly known as Nwa Onitsha who is currently at large.

    “Meanwhile, the suspects and the Case have been transferred to the Anti Kidnapping/Rapid Response Unit of the Command for further investigation.

    “The Operatives have also intensified the manhunt for the possible arrest of Nwa Onitsha.

    “This operation demonstrates the Police’s commitment to enhancing safety and security in the State capital.

    “Part of the operations include targeting potential hideouts and hotspots for criminal activities as well as preventing crimes and reassuring residents of their safety.”
