The Plateau State Government has intensified preparations for the take-off of additional Nigerian Army formations approved for the state to strengthen security.

The Chief of Staff to Governor Caleb Mutfwang, Builder Jeremiah Satmark, led a state committee on security matters on an inspection of proposed sites in Wase and Langtang Local Government Areas.

The inspection was to assess facilities and land for both temporary take-off and permanent establishment of the formations.

In Wase, the committee reconfirmed the availability of land earlier allocated for the formation and received the original Certificate of Occupancy for the permanent site. Arrangements are also underway for a temporary location to enable immediate commencement of operations.

In Langtang, government facilities have been identified for temporary use, while efforts continue to secure a permanent site.

Speaking during the exercise, Satmark said the state government is committed to providing all necessary support for the effective take-off of the formations, noting that they will strengthen security coordination and complement ongoing efforts to protect communities.

He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian Army for approving the additional security presence and urged host communities, traditional rulers and local councils to sustain their support.

He also thanked the chairmen of the affected LGAs, traditional rulers and community leaders for their cooperation.

The new security structure, according to recent Army announcements, includes the 24 Armour Brigade in Langtang and component units in Mangu, Wase and Shendam.
