Peter Obi responds, “Nigerians await impact, benefits,” as Port Harcourt refinery starts up

Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential contender, has praised the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, or NNPCL, for bringing the historic Port Harcourt refinery back to life.

The NNPCL declared on Tuesday that the 60,000 barrels per day Refinery has resumed operations, as the DAILY POST remembers.

Nigerians are still reacting to the situation, and they are thrilled about the prospect of importing PMS, or Premium Motor Spirit.

In response, Peter Obi stated in a statement on Wednesday that Nigerians are waiting for the effects and advantages to show up in the price of petroleum goods at the pump.

With an established production capacity of 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day, the refinery is set to come online today. Every day, over 200 trucks are anticipated to load goods from the refinery.

“The benefits and impact on pump prices and the economy as a whole are now anticipated by Nigerians,” he stated.

“The news of the Kaduna refinery’s revival is promising, as it is expected to boost productivity, improve transportation, and alleviate economic burdens across the country,” the former governor of Anambra added.

“Although we recognize these accomplishments as a positive step, it is imperative to stress the significance of openness in the NNPC’s activities.

Assuring that the advantages of expanded refining capacity are distributed to all Nigerians and utilized to promote long-term development, “Nigerians deserve clarity and accountability regarding the management of the nation’s vital oil resources.”
