Ademola Lookman of Atlanta won CAF’s African Footballer of the Year 2024, and Chiamaka Nnadozie of Paris FC won CAF’s Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year 2024 for the second consecutive year.
Obi added in his congrats that Lookman and Nnadozie’s individual honors brought honor to the nation.
Additionally, he congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria for winning the title of CAF Women’s National Team of the Year 2024.
“At the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards, Nigeria once again stole the show as our own Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman won African Footballer of the Year 2024, and Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie won Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year 2024. To top it all off, the Super Falcons, the continent’s women’s national team, were named the Women’s National Team of the Year at the same ceremony.
“I want to express my deepest congratulations to our beloved athletes who have made history and elevated our country with these honors. “Thank you for your perseverance, hard work, abilities, and excellence that have gotten you this far,” Obi remarked.
In addition, the former governor of Anambra State advocated for funding sports to provide jobs for the nation’s young people.
He underlined that if possibilities are made for young people in the sports industry, the nation can overcome the majority of its problems.
