At the National Assembly Complex in Abuja, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives caucus are currently holding a meeting.

This gathering comes in anticipation of a media briefing scheduled for Tuesday by 60 lawmakers aligned with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Last week, a faction of 60 opposition lawmakers, led by Imo State’s representative for Ideato North/Ideato South Federal Constituency, Ikenga Ugochinyere, called for the resignation of PDP’s Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, citing alleged incompetence and anti-party activities.

Shortly after the Ugochinyere-led group’s press conference, the House minority caucus, led by chairman Kingsley Chinda, distanced themselves from the faction, dismissing it as unrecognized within the parliament.

While specific details of the ongoing meeting remain undisclosed, it is likely connected to the upcoming National Executive Committee meeting of the party, scheduled for Thursday at the PDP headquarters. Discussions are expected to encompass issues such as the anti-party conduct of prominent members and the status of Damagum.

Chinda indicated that further information about the meeting would be shared later in the day, emphasizing that it serves as a routine appraisal of the country’s security situation.

Both Chinda and Ugochinyere are present at the meeting, with additional details to be provided subsequently.
