People Are Now Hurrying to Get Aba-Made Items – Goodluck Jonathan

    Published on

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, represented by Godknows Igali, has praised the positive transformation in public perception of Aba-made products, attributing the shift to Governor Alex Otti’s leadership in Abia State. He noted that what was once mocked is now in high demand due to intentional and effective governance.

“The presence of Alex Otti in Abia State shows intentionality in leadership. He came prepared,” Jonathan stated. “Before, when you mentioned ‘Aba made, ’ people laughed. Today, everyone is scrambling for Aba-made products.”

He also highlighted the notable achievements of the University of Port Harcourt, pointing out that it is the only Nigerian institution to have produced six governors, a vice president, and a president.

In response, Governor Otti expressed gratitude to the Uniport Alumni Association for their visit and interest in the development projects currently underway in the state.

The event was attended by key political figures including Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

Separately, speaking at the Annual Colloquium of the Haske Satumari Foundation in Abuja, Jonathan issued a strong warning about the dangers of injustice and abuse of power, particularly in the context of the ongoing crisis in Rivers State.

He stressed that no nation can thrive when those in power disregard justice and operate like dictators, saying the Rivers State situation reflects broader governance failures across Nigeria’s institutions.

“The challenge is not ignorance but willful neglect,” Jonathan said. “As the Indian proverb goes, it’s easy to wake someone who is truly asleep. But when someone pretends to be asleep, it’s almost impossible. Our leaders know what is right, yet they choose not to do it.”

He criticized the executive, legislative, and judicial arms for collectively failing to uphold integrity and the rule of law, warning that such behavior undermines investor confidence and national progress.

“We must strive to do what is right, even if it costs us. That’s the only way we can build a nation our children and grandchildren will be proud of,” Jonathan said.

He concluded by emphasizing that real change requires consistent effort and a united commitment to the principles of justice and good governance.
