PDP leaders, lawmakers hatch plot to impeach Adeleke

Tensions are boiling within the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a secret meeting allegedly held by top party leaders and some members of the House of Assembly points to a brewing plot to impeach Governor Ademola Adeleke.

According to a source, whois a chieftain of the party and who pleaded anonymity, the closed-door meeting was nothing short of a political coup in the making.

“We are tired of Governor Adeleke,” the source declared bluntly. “He should go back to where he came from.”

This revelation has sent shockwaves across the state’s political landscape, raising serious questions about loyalty, leadership, and the future of the PDP in Osun.

The coming days may reveal whether this is mere internal unrest or the beginning of a full-blown political war in the party.

In a follow-up to the unfolding development, some PDP leaders have now come forward to further explain their discontent.

One prominent figure, speaking off the record, accused the governor of sidelining the party and consolidating power within his family.

“Governor Adeleke is not the right leader for the PDP in Osun. He and his sibling have practically hijacked the government. They’re running the state like a family business, and many of us feel completely excluded,” the chieftain said.

Beyond words, the crisis is already triggering a wave of defections. Several high-ranking PDP leaders have reportedly defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), with more expected to follow in the coming weeks.

Insiders say the exodus is driven by frustration over what they describe as the Adeleke family’s “self-centered leadership” and the breakdown of internal party democracy.

“This is no longer about loyalty; it’s about survival,” another party stalwart noted. “People are leaving because the governor has turned governance into a personal empire. The party is bleeding, and if something urgent isn’t done, the PDP will collapse in Osun.”

As tensions rise and party ranks thin, efforts are said to be underway by party elders to contain the damage. Yet, without a clear sign of reconciliation or reform from Adeleke’s camp, the PDP may be inching closer to a dramatic internal collapse — one that could redefine the political landscape ahead of the next electoral cycle.
