PDP Hasn’t Learned Its Lesson; I’ll Back Tinubu in 2027 – Wike

    Published on

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has openly declared that he would work for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

According to reports, Wike made the declaration on Monday during his media chat with newsmen.

According to him, it appears that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has not learnt its lessons, so he would support the All Progressives Congress (APC) just like he did in the 2023 elections.

“My party (PDP) appears not to have learnt. I will support President Tinubu for a second term,” he said.

It would be recalled that Wike and some others, popularly known as the G5, worked against the PDP’s interest and its presidential candidate in the 2023 election.

They based their decision on the refusal of the PDP leadership to zone its 2023 presidential ticket to the south.

Also recently, Wike worked for the victory of the APC candidates in the 2026 FCT Council elections, which were held in February.

Despite this, the APC has insisted that Wike is not a member of the party, despite his open support for its candidates and the party itself.

Wike had, before the election, publicly vowed to support candidates who align with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

His active involvement in the campaigns and the eventual outcome of the election have continued to generate debate, particularly regarding his political allegiance.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, was asked what the party would do if Wike were a member of the APC but working for another political party, an action widely regarded as anti-party activity.

While acknowledging the minister’s role in the FCT election outcome, Morka, on behalf of the ruling party, made it clear that Wike’s political status has not changed.
