‎The Federal High Court in Abuja will today (Friday) deliver judgment in the leadership crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

‎Justice Salim Ibrahim fixed 4 p.m. for judgment in a suit filed by the Senator Adolphus Wabara-led Board of Trustees (BoT) loyal to the interim National Working Committee (NWC) faction headed by Mr Kabir Turaki (SAN).

‎Hearing notices have been dispatched to all parties involved in the suit, the development which signals that the long-running dispute may finally get judicial clarity.

‎ Ibrahim had, on July 7, reserved judgment after counsel to the parties adopted their processes and presented arguments for and against the suit.

‎At the time, the judge said the judgment date would be communicated to parties 24 hours in advance.

‎With the notices now out, attention has shifted to the PDP, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the rival camps within the party as they await the court’s decision.

‎The Wabara-led BoT approached the court seeking an order compelling the INEC, to recognise the PDP interim NWC faction led by Turaki on its official website.

‎The plaintiffs argued that the Turaki-led leadership is the authentic interim structure of the PDP and should be accorded recognition by the electoral umpire for all official purposes.

‎Friday’s judgment is expected to determine which faction INEC will deal with going forward, and could reshape the PDP’s preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
