Pair of Counterfeit Policemen Apprehended in Lagos

    By Daniel Edu

In the vicinity of Ikeja, Lagos State, law enforcement authorities have detained two individuals posing as fake police officers engaged in an unauthorized patrol.

One of the impostors asserted himself as a police inspector, while his accomplice was a subordinate officer. Their apprehension was prompted by their exploitation of police uniforms to unlawfully solicit funds from unsuspecting Nigerian citizens.

Upon their capture, a pocket knife and a locally altered AK-47 firearm were confiscated from the suspects.

Meanwhile, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has taken on 1,500 individuals as part of the State Security, Vigilante, and Hunter Network (ESSVN) to enhance security and enhance intelligence collection within the region.

After completing a comprehensive 10-day training in intelligence gathering at the Ogida Police Training School in Egor LGA, the vigilantes and hunters participated in a graduation ceremony on Thursday.

In his address at the passing-out parade, Governor Obaseki emphasized that the training of ESSVN operatives would bolster initiatives to strengthen intelligence gathering and community-oriented policing across the state.

The governor underscored his administration’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the capabilities of all security personnel involved in the front lines of the battle against criminal activities in Edo
