Anger is mounting as operatives of Anambra State’s security outfit, Agunechemba, are accused of brutally assaulting a keke rider – all over a measly N200 bribe!

A shocking video shared by Facebook user Amaka Nwada Ebenebe shows the rider being beaten at Y Junction, Okpuno, after he reportedly refused to pay the sum demanded by the officers.

She wrote:“Because this boy did not give them 200 naira, that’s why they are beating him like this. This is a country where security is now hurting the masses because of peanuts. So bad, my eyes saw hell today. It is a pity we had to find ourselves in this kind of situation. May God help us.”

Amaka claims she was at the scene, and even appears in the footage, pleading with the officers to spare the young man.

This is not the first time Agunechemba has been caught in the spotlight for brutalizing citizens. Last year, the agency faced intense backlash for humiliating a female corps member, stripping her naked under the pretext of searching for internet fraudsters in the corpers’ lodge.

However, the agency insists the video is old. Spokesperson Mr. Nweke Nweke said,“That is an old video. We even reacted to it before. I remember issuing a press release, and the men in the video were sanctioned then.”

The incident has reignited outrage over Agunechemba’s handling of citizens, with many questioning the accountability of the controversial state security outfit.
