Ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic qualifying fixtures against Comoros, Super Falcons interim head coach, Augustine Eguavoen, has recalled versatile defender, Ashleigh Plumptre, who missed the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) due to injury.
Eguavoen has handed first senior invitations to the duo of the starting goalkeeper and captain for the Falconets at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland, Christiana Uzoma, and the Flamingos’ striker at the 2026 WAFU B U-17 Girls Cup, Oluwakemi Adegbuyi.
Daily NewsCraft reports that the names of the trio appeared on Eguavoen’s list of the invited players that will face Comoros at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.
The official announcement of the squad was made on Tuesday via the team’s X account.
The full list of the invited players are:
Goalkeepers: Chiamaka Nnadozie (Brighton & Hove Albion), Comfort Erhabor (Portsmouth Ladies), and Christiana Uzoma (Edo Queens).
Defenders: Michelle Alozie (Chicago Stars), Shukurat Oladipo (AS Roma), Farida Abdulwahab (Nasarawa Amazons), Glory Ogbonna (Besiktas), Oluwatosin Demehin (SL Benfica), Glory Edet (Bayelsa Queens), Ashleigh Plumptre (Al-Ittihad), Tumininu Adeshina (Edo Queens).
Midfielders: Christy Ucheibe (Al-Hilal), Joy Igbokwe (Nasarawa Amazons), Favour Nkwocha (FC Robo Queens), Fatimoh Solaty (Nasarawa Amazons), Suliat Abideen (Fenerbahce), Toni Payne (Inter Milan), Jennifer Echegini (Paris Saint-Germain).
Forwards: Rasheedat Ajibade (Paris Saint-Germain), Asisat Oshoala (Al-Hilal), Flourish Sabastine (SL Benfica), Shakirat Moshood (SCU Torreense), Gift Monday (Washington Spirit), Joy Omewa (BK Hacken), Blessing Nkor (Dynamo Brest), Oluwakemi Adegbuyi (Edo Queens), Janet Akekoromowei (SL Benfica), Uchenna Kanu (Cruz Azul Femenil).
The players have been instructed to report at the AM2PM Hotel, Ijebu-Ode, on Saturday, October 3.
Both matches will be played at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, as Comoros does not have a CAF-approved venue for international games.
The first leg is slated for Friday, October 9, while the return leg is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13.
The 10-time African champions will look to begin their journey towards qualification for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles on a strong note against Comoros.
