Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has inaugurated two key committees to address persistent issues of security and land boundary disputes in the State.

The 27-member Livestock Control Committee, chaired by retired General Cecil Esekhaigbe, is tasked with regulating livestock movement, managing ranch certification, monitoring herdsmen activities, and curbing farmer-herder conflicts.

“We must carry out this work with the fear of God,” the Governor said at the inauguration. “You have to confine them to a particular location. That is the essence of this committee.”

General Esekhaigbe pledged the committee’s commitment, stating: “We will do our best to ensure that the assignment given to us is discharged with integrity and diligence.”

In a parallel move, Governor Okpebholo also inaugurated a 14-member Boundary Committee chaired by Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa. The committee is charged with resolving long-standing boundary disputes within Edo State and its borders with Delta, Kogi, Lagos, and Ondo States.

Idahosa pledged transparency and fairness, saying: “This committee will strive to ensure accurate boundary demarcation, promote peaceful coexistence, and support development in conflict-prone areas.”

With the twin inaugurations, Governor Okpebholo signalled a holistic approach to governance—one that blends security, territorial integrity, and inclusive development.
