Senator Monday Okpebholo, the incoming governor of Edo State, has voiced his alarm about what he called Godwin Obaseki’s strange public outbursts.
Obaseki has vanished from the state, he said.
In a statement signed by Godspower Inegbe and made accessible to reporters on Sunday, Okpebholo said that Obaseki’s careless remarks had alarmed the Edo people and asked him to assess his mental health.
In the statement, the governor-elect expressed concern about Obaseki’s location, claiming that he allegedly used a disguised bus to flee Benin City, the capital of Edo State.
According to the statement, Obaseki ejected everyone from Government House on Friday and fled to an unidentified location over 72 hours prior to his scheduled resignation.
The statement went on to say that Obaseki is fabricating these allegations in order to divert attention from his evil schemes to flee the country via the land borders.
“As of Friday, November 8th, Obaseki’s location is unclear. Everyone has been driven out of the Edo State Government House by him. He is on the run and has given up on running the State.
“He has left Benin by way of the road. The airport was not traversed by him. Why didn’t he flee via the airport if he is as well-liked as he says? Instead, he fled Edo State by hiring a bus and disguising himself.
“Obaseki is attempting to divert the public’s attention by promoting these myths. His antics aren’t going to work. We are aware of his schemes, and we shall keep the Edo people informed about his antics,” the statement said.
On Saturday, Obaseki asserted that he was not invited by Senator Okpebholo to his inauguration, which is scheduled for next Tuesday.
The unpopular outgoing governor claims that Senator Monday Okpebholo stole the mandate that the Edo people willingly gave him.
In a statement, Okpebholo said, “In his typical narrow-minded mind, he wants to change the narratives and set a dangerous precedent.”
According to the governor-elect, he won the elections handily, and the tribunal will shortly confirm his assertions.
Obaseki would not get away with the careless accusations, he claimed.
“Obaseki will not escape punishment for this false statement. Edo State’s governor-elect, Senator Monday Okpebholo, became victorious in the September 21st election.
“Obaseki has not yet come to terms with the fact that he has lost and is still licking his wounds. He made fun of Obaseki by saying, “The Edo people rejected Obaseki’s satanic government’s planned continuation through his glorified stooge, Asue Ighodalo, through the ballot.”
According to Okpebholo, Obaseki is attempting to sway the tribunal’s decision in the current case by presenting untrue allegations.
The endeavor will fail like a deck of cards, he added.
“The People’s Democratic Party is already contesting the election’s outcome in court,” he stated. Therefore, we are concerned that Obaseki is rushing to predict the result of the tribunal by repeatedly making false claims.
Sadly for Obaseki, his unfounded accusations will not stand up. There is no evidence against Senator Okpebholo on the part of the Peoples Democratic Party or its candidate, Ighodalo. That will shortly be confirmed by the tribunal.
He cautioned Obaseki against making untrue statements and told him that there could be dire repercussions if he doesn’t stop.
Senator Okpebholo cautioned Obaseki that if he does not turn around, he will soon lose his immunity and will be subject to the full force of the law.
We will not stand by and let Senator Okpebholo continue to distort the actual events of September 21st, despite the fact that he is a man of peace.
According to the statement, Okpebholo issued a warning: “Obaseki will soon lose his immunity and if he continues to make his baseless claims, he will face the full wrath of the law very soon and he will prove his unfounded allegations when he is dragged to court.”
In response, Okpebholo called Obaseki’s subsequent assertion that he was not invited to the inauguration scheduled for next Tuesday “laughable, absurd, and questionable.”
He claimed that Obaseki has used every strategy to thwart a peaceful handover of power since he was elected.
The governor-elect pointed out that Obaseki had not invited him to a meeting or given him a tour of Government House.
According to the statement, Obaseki asserted once more that he was not invited by Senator Okpebholo to the inauguration, which is scheduled for next Tuesday. This is ludicrous, ridiculous, and dubious. Obaseki has done everything he can to thwart a smooth handover of power since Senator Okpebholo was proclaimed the victor.
“As a current governor, Obaseki ought to inform the people of Edo and Nigeria about any meetings or tours he has given to the governor-elect, Senator Okpebholo, at Government House in his capacity as a responsible man. Has Obaseki congratulated Senator Okpebholo on his election victory over the phone?
“Obaseki ought to cover his face in shame, give an explanation for the billions he embezzled, and express regret to the Edo people for the State’s lack of development over the past eight years.
“We implore Edo residents to ignore
