Obi Visits Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital, Commends Its World-Class Healthcare Delivery

    Published on

Mr. Peter Obi has paid a visit to the Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital in Oraifite, a state-of-the-art medical facility specialising in cardiovascular diseases. The hospital, built by the Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation in collaboration with the VOOM Foundation, has been making significant strides in saving lives. Obi expressed his admiration upon learning that the hospital had successfully completed 117 open-heart surgeries, 2 vascular surgeries, and 10 interventional cardiology procedures.

“These milestones represent a significant contribution to healthcare, directly improving lives and fostering a healthier, more prosperous society,” Obi remarked. He extended his gratitude to Sir Emeka Okwuosa and the VOOM Foundation for their dedication and noted that the collective efforts of such institutions could help build a society that meets the needs of children, the vulnerable, and the underprivileged.

The Executive Director of Sir Emeka Okwuosa Foundation, Mrs Chidinma Okoye, speaking during Obi’s visit, recounted the facility’s origins as a small health centre, which Sir Okwuosa later remodelled into the world-class Dame Irene Okwuosa Memorial Hospital. The Executive Director explained that the hospital was established to provide quality healthcare, offering free services for children and subsidised care for adults. However, given the economic challenges, most adults also receive treatment without paying.

Obi toured the hospital’s facilities, praising their world-class standards. After engaging with the hospital staff, he encouraged them to remain dedicated to the hospital’s mission, ensuring it achieves the noble goals for which it was established.
