The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State, which reportedly claimed about 38 lives.

In a condolence message signed by its Chairman, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, the forum described the incident as a heartbreaking loss, and extended its sympathies to the victims’ families, the Niger State Government, and the entire people of the state.

“We are deeply saddened by this devastating incident and pray for the repose of the departed souls. May Allah grant them Jannatul Firdaus and comfort their families during this difficult time,” the statement read.

NSF also urged the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other relevant agencies to intensify efforts in enforcing vehicle safety standards, especially for tankers and other carriers of inflammable materials, to avert similar tragedies in the future.

“The NSF calls for stricter roadworthiness checks and compliance with safety protocols to safeguard lives and property across the country,” it added.

While commiserating with the government and people of Niger State, the senators prayed for the quick recovery of the injured and divine strength for the bereaved families.

The tanker explosion, which occurred earlier this week, has once again drawn national attention to the urgent need for enhanced monitoring of vehicles transporting hazardous materials on Nigerian roads.
