The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has restated its dedication to revitalizing and expanding Nigeria’s downstream oil and gas infrastructure, with a strong focus on efficiency, collaboration, and sustainability across the energy value chain.

Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Engr. Bayo Ojulari, made this known on Monday during the opening ceremony of the 2025 OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week in Lagos.

In a statement issued by Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Ojulari emphasized that the future of the energy sector depends more on collaboration and innovation than on competition.

“At NNPC, we are committed to deploying additional infrastructure across the oil and gas value chain while revamping our existing downstream assets nationwide,” Ojulari said. “These facilities will be accessible to partners for product storage and transportation, fostering strategic alliances and stronger collaboration within the sector.”

He explained that a combination of strategic government policies, fiscal incentives, and a transparent regulatory framework—driven by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA)—has created new opportunities for investment and growth in the downstream industry.

According to Ojulari, this evolving landscape calls for the development of new skills and investments in emerging segments such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), and mini-LNG projects.

Ojulari urged stakeholders to leverage the OTL platform to address challenges and explore opportunities that can redefine Africa’s energy ecosystem in a sustainable and profitable manner.

“We must build partnerships that go beyond traditional competition and embrace innovative business models and technologies that promote decarbonization while delivering economic value,” he said.

Widely recognized as Africa’s premier downstream and midstream energy gathering, the OTL Africa Downstream Energy Week brings together international organizations, policymakers, regulators, development partners, operators, service providers, and consumers across the energy value chain.

The week-long conference will feature discussions centered on sustainability, investment, and innovation in Africa’s downstream energy sector.
