Two days after MRS Oil Nigeria Plc increased its pricing in Lagos from N885 to N925 and South East N955 per litre, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has followed suit, increasing the pump price of petrol to N915 per litre in Lagos and N945 per litre in Abuja.

The current price represents a N45 increase from the previous price of N870 per litre in Lagos and N35 hike from the prior price of N910 in Abuja.

New National Star had reported that MRS had announced new pricing, which took effect on Saturday, June 21, 2025, raising the pump price in Lagos from N885 to N925 and South East N955 per litre.

The announcement was made via the company’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle. Although no specific reason was provided for the increase, MRS urged customers to consult its “updated pump prices across all MRS stations nationwide.”

According to the revised pricing template, petrol will now retail at N955 per litre in the Southeast, N935 in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, and Ekiti States, N955 in the Northeast, and N945 in the Northwest and North Central regions.

In Abuja, the product was sold at N945 per litre across the FCT, from N910.

Similarly, TotalEnergies filling stations increased the price of petrol to N910 per litre, from the previous price of N879 per litre.

On June 15, the Dangote refinery offered free nationwide logistics for petrol, and diesel distribution.

The refinery said it also acquired 4,000 new compressed natural gas (CNG)-powered tankers to enhance its fuel distribution capacity across the country.
