    Published on

The Director General/Chief Executive of the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology (NITT), Zaria, Dr. Bayero Salih Farah, FCILT, has called for enhanced collaboration with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to promote national road safety standards and smart mobility initiatives.

Dr. Farah made the call during a courtesy visit to the Corps Marshal, Mr Shehu Mohammed at the FRSC Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, 9th October, 2025.

The DG/CE noted that the visit was aimed at at deepening cooperation between NITT and FRSC, particularly in harmonising national standards for driver training, testing, and data management. He stated that the Institute was seeking FRSC’s support in integrating the Smart National Transport Databank into its operational systems to enable seamless data sharing, joint monitoring, and the development of a national safety intelligence framework.

According to Dr Farah, the proposed collaboration would help both institutions build a technologically empowered road safety ecosystem that ensures professionalism among drivers, enhances enforcement outcomes, and supports Nigeria’s transition toward smart and sustainable mobility.

Responding, the Corps Marshal, Mr. Shehu Mohammed, welcomed NITT’s initiative while reaffirming FRSC’s commitment to strengthening ties with the Institute. He underscored the importance of collaboration in areas such as data gathering on road crashes and capacity development.

Mr. Mohammed expressed optimism that the partnership and proposed MoU would lead to improved road safety outcomes and greater alignment in national transport training and data management standards.

The DG/CE was accompanied on the visit by the Director, Transport School, Dr Remi Adewumi and the Director, Transport Research and Intelligence Department, Dr Baba Ibrahim Mundi, as well as other top officials of the Institute.
