According to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), 120,000,040 million citizens and legal residents have registered for National Identity Numbers (NINs).

This comes as the commission gave an explanation for its recent assessment of its framework for service prices.

At a news conference on Wednesday, NIMC Director General Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote gave remarks.

She claims that over the past 24 months, NIMC has kept increasing the capacity of its facilities to better serve Nigerians.

According to Abisoye-Coker, the commission has resulted in a 40% decrease in corruption within the agency.

She pointed out that during its most recent price review, fees for data alterations went up while verifications went down.

After determining that certain costs were excessive, we eliminated them.

Prices of various kinds were displayed there. People were using exorbitant pricing to blackmail citizens.

Enrollment in NIN is free. However, you must pay more if you choose to change your data for whatever reason.

There were pricing reviews that went up and down.

“The prices were reviewed upward in terms of modifications but downward in terms of verification,” she stated.

Remember how NIMC announced a reassessment of their service tariffs on May 1st, 2025?

As a result, the commission increased the date of birth rectification charge from N16,340 to N28,574.

The NIN retrieval service for Unstructured Supplementary Service Data was also raised by NIMC from N20 to N50.
