The National Hydroelectric Power Producing Areas Development Commission (N-HYPPADEC) has commiserated with the Government and people of Niger State over the death of 37 persons in the detention facility of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
In a statement by its Head of Press and Public Affairs, Nura Tanko Wakili, the Commission extended condolences to Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, the Emir of Minna, Dr Umar Faruq Bahago, and the families of the deceased.
N-HYPPADEC described the incident as deeply distressing and unfortunate, noting with sadness the sudden and painful loss.
The Commission said it stands in solidarity with the state government and the bereaved families during the difficult period.
It appealed for calm to allow committees constituted by the Federal and Niger State Governments to thoroughly investigate the incident and make appropriate recommendations.
Managing Director of the Commission, Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, prayed that Almighty Allah grants the families fortitude to bear the irreparable loss and grants the deceased eternal rest.
He also urged members of the public to refrain from sensationalising the tragedy and called for sober reflection towards actions that promote collective good.
