“National Assembly Ultimately Answerable to God”—Remi Tinubu

Nigerian First Lady, Remi Tinubu has said that the National Assembly and its members are ultimately accountable to God.

Speaking at the dedication and commissioning of the National Assembly Chapel in Abuja on Sunday, the First Lady urged the lawmakers to remain committed and God-fearing in the discharge of their legislative duties.

According to her, all lawmakers, Christians and Muslims alike, would give account of their actions to God in the last days.

Highlighting her time as a lawmaker in the National Assembly, Tinubu said the completion of the chapel building is deeply significant to her.

“This occasion is quite significant for me, not only as a Christian, but as a former legislator who only had weekly fellowship in one of the committee rooms.

“I was a legislator for 12 years, and to actually see this vision come to fruition gladdens my heart, and I thank God and give Him all the glory for making it possible.

“This chapel stands as a testament that while we legislate for the people, we are ultimately accountable to God,” Tinubu said.

Quoting 2 Chronicles 6:39, the First Lady said the new chapel will inspire courage and dedicated leadership as lawmakers fulfil their roles within and outside the Assembly.

“As we dedicate this chapel today, may it inspire in the leadership courage in decision making and compassion in service and may Nigeria continue to flourish as we collectively seek the face of God in worship and prayer in Jesus name,” she added.
