The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, praised the Nigerian Army troops for their dedication and bravery in addressing the security challenges faced by the country. During his visit to the Army Headquarters in Abuja
A statement on Tuesday issued by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Army Public Relations stressed that, thehe minister commended the Nigerian Army’s operational engagements and expressed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting them.
He promised interventions in areas such as accommodation, manpower, logistics, and combat enablers to enhance the morale and operational efficiency of the personnel in tackling security challenges nationwide.
The Minister also congratulated the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, for the achievements made so far.
He assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, will continue to support the Nigerian Army in fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities. The Minister urged the troops to persevere in their efforts to restore peace to the country.
The Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Matawalle, called on Nigerians to appreciate the sacrifices made by the military and security agencies in protecting the nation.
He emphasized the need for public support towards the officers and personnel of the Armed Forces as they carry out their duties. Matawalle highlighted the importance of a comprehensive approach, involving both kinetic and non-kinetic strategies, to address insecurity and promote peace in the country.
He also stressed the significance of intelligence sharing among security agencies to enhance ongoing operations.
In response, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, expressed gratitude to the Minister and Minister of State for Defence for their support. He acknowledged the positive impact of visible interventions from the Federal Government on the Nigerian Army’s operations.
Lagbaja assured the nation that the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with sister services and other security agencies, will continue to work diligently to provide adequate security and achieve peace in the country.
