‎Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Rt. Hon. Salihu Yakubu Danladi, said the massive turnout at this year’s Gaani festival shows Baruten people appreciate APC zoning its governorship ticket to the area.
    ‎
‎Danladi, who hails from Gwanara in Baruten Local Government Area, spoke during the annual cultural festival celebrated to promote unity.
    ‎
‎He was given a rousing welcome by his kinsmen at the event, which he described as a cherished cultural heritage of the community.
    ‎
‎”I am elated by the large number of people who trooped out to welcome me. It shows the district and the entire local government appreciate APC’s decision,” he said.
    ‎
‎Danladi praised Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for developing the state, pledging to build on his achievements if elected governor.
    ‎
‎The Emir of Gwanara, Alhaji Idris Abdullahi Sabi, who hosted the festival, had earlier appealed to government to fix roads linking Gwanara to Saki in Oyo State, Bukuro and Okuta in Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State.
    ‎
‎The monarch said the roads are not motorable, stifling commercial activities and socio-economic growth of the district.
    ‎
‎He also appealed for upgrade of the basic healthcare centre to spare residents long-distance travels for medical care.
